MISSION & HISTORY.

Our mission is simple but powerful: to remind people that "they are not forgotten.” This guiding principle drives everything we do. We believe in the power of community, movement, and compassion to uplift those in need. By combining the joy of dance with direct outreach to underserved individuals, The Good Foot Foundation strives to create positive change one step at a time.

Founded in 2010 (and inspired by the phrase “get on the good foot,” meaning to start off in the right direction), The Good Foot Foundation was born out of a passion for uplifting others.

What began as a local initiative to hand out hygiene kits to people experiencing homelessness, share the art of Chicago-style Steppin’ dance and hiking has grown into a movement.

Today, we run classes, events, and outreach programs that unite volunteers, participants, and supporters in a shared mission of empowerment. Every step we take whether a dance step or a step toward someone in need is rooted in compassion and community spirit.

In just a few years, we have touched thousands of lives and are aiming even higher. Right now, we’re on a mission to reach 2,000 people in need with comfort and support.

Each care package we distribute and each class we hold is an opportunity to remind someone that they matter. We’ve seen shy individuals blossom into confident dancers, and we’ve watched strangers come together to assemble care packs for the unhoused, forging friendships in the process. Small actions can snowball into major change and with the support of our community, we’re making every donation and volunteer hour count.
